Lucimara Santos, Brazil
Little did she know that when she became the translator for a bunch of radio people from the U.S. ,she would also become a model for my photography practice.
Luci, is from Campinas, Brazil and graciously posed for me during my mission trip to Brazil. The trip was in July of 2008, before my 2nd photo workshop with Scott Robert in Paris. Looking back, I wish I had that training before Brazil. There is still alot to learn about how to pose the models, lighting, and post-processing, but I wanted to show these off a little. So here are the top pictures of Luci.

The Scott Robert Next Level Workshop... Paris, France
I had been looking forward to this workshop for about a year. Since the day I first saw the artistry in Scott photos I have wanted to learn how to shoot like that. My first workshop was learning about light in December in Pasadena. This workshop stretched me in a lot of was as a photographer. I felt like I was somewhat of the rookie of the group because there was so much I needed to learn, about off camera flash, posing models, locations etc.. But, I did learn with Scott's hands on help, we all stretched our abilities and came away much improved in our photography skills.
If you're into photography and want to get better at your craft, I can highly recommend attending one or more of Scott's Next Level Workshops... I have been to two so far and because I like to strive for excellence, I'll be back for more!
Another cool thing, you'll get to meet others from around the world who love photography as much as you do. We had a great group of people in the workshop and each of them are fine photographers that are getting better and better under Scott's instruction.
I really want to thanks our Models, Nina Nguyen and Vanessa Tsang from the UK, and our photography students/models Peggy Leung, Amber Hughes from Canada, plus Sarah Dawson and Janna Michelman from N. CA.
These are the ladies you see in the pictures below.

Meet Fernanda!
She is the sweetest little girl and soooo full of energy. Thanks to my interpreter Luci, (Lucimara) she helped me to communicate with the children. Luci even taught me some words in Portugese but I'm sorry to say...I can't remember them today.

Greetings From Sao Paulo
Here is an explanation video of the content that will follow!
We were told to leave our cameras back at the Compassion school. So, I left my big Canon behind and snuck out my small FlipVideo camera. It's pretty shakey because I was trying to hide it and film while walking thus giving it that "Dateline" hidden camera feel. This was a pretty intimidating walk because our safety had to be negotiated with the drug lords of the area and we were told they couldn't gaurantee our safety if we were still there after the sun went down. We were still walking back at dusk.

Sao Paulo at Night
No matter where I go I love to take pictures at night. I usually wander around the city setting up my tripod getting interesting shots but was warned that this would not be a good idea. Soooo, up to the roof I go for a night shot of Sao Paulo. That light you see is an approaching airplane. We were right in the flight path for landing at a nearby airport.
And then... it went right overhead... kinda hard to focus at night when the plane is doing around 200 miles an hour! And, they are close to the building tops, the roar of the jet engines is deafening!
